What is Roof-top Algae? It’s fungus that can leave dark stains on your roofing. Roof-top algae stains occur on asphalt shingle roofs. The roof-top algae starts as dots, then eventually covers your entire roof! The solution to this problem usually involves introducing copper and/or zinc to the roof. Both copper and zinc act as poison for the algae.
Have a qualified roofer mix-up some zinc oxide in a pump sprayer…have them apply that to the roof. Also, have them sprinkle zinc and copper pellets on the roof, it’s the best way to get rid of moss and algae build-up.
What do you consider to be the best method to prevent Roof-top algae from occurring?
